The world is facing more frequent threats via pandemics. The recent scare of Swine Flu spreading throughout the world has brought the nations of all continents to coordinate and use a global response. Preparation has already been set in place since the last influenza scare when the Bird Flu was said to “potentially affect millions.” This recent swine influenza was a “first test” of international coordination under the auspices of the United Nations World Health Organization (W.H.O.), said U.N. General Secretary, Ban Ki Moon. He further said the U.N. responded “quickly and effectively” when measuring the response of the world’s reaction and submission to W.H.O.
